He said there had been complaints of the word being used in functions, events and magazines which had nothing to do with the state.
Oooooh! So Penang ah Beng is in trouble now as his blog not only talked about Penang issues, but also others.
The problems also affect the use of Penang char koay teow, penang har mee, penang laksa, etc as other places or states also do have all these food. Other states may protest like Indonesian complaining that Malaysia stole their culture.
Like what KKP said, we understand that Penang State Government's name were used without approval very often in functions which were not subsidised or supported by the Government.
But we might notice that the word is the "Penang State Government". It is not about "Penang" but more about the state government.
I think the Penang Chief is over excited about this issue and they should focus more in the delivery of the government service instead of spending time to process this meaningless proposal.

I disagree with CM.LGE, the word Penang is not a word belong belong to DAP or PR or BN, we the people had every right to use that word in publication, or any way we want. He should have better way to spend his time as CM in managing our state than waste time on this petty issue. Unless he prepare to get ship out in next election. Don't insult the intelligent of Penangites in this island.
Should I change my blog name www.penangfengshui.blogspot.com which I used since day 1 and it has nothing to do with Penang State Government?
If any company or individual misuse the state government logo or letterhead, trying to mislead people into believing it is from Penang State Government, then LGE should sue them, instead of preventing us from using the word "PENANG" , it is a total stupidity on the part of PR to come out with such a solution. I am wondering is LGE is trying to give a chance for Gerakan back to power in the next election by restricting the right of Penangites?
Actually it is the main stream media control by BN component party trying to stir the pot of LGE. His usual statement about Penang during press session is taken out of context to incite DAP hatred rhetoric among Penangites. haha...
