SAW LOH MEE returns!

Saw Loh Mee is back!
Saw loh mee is not a person's name or type of mee selling in kopitiam. We first heard about this 10 years ago in 1998. Putting legal aside, we spent sometime to research and debate whether we should accept Saw Loh Mee to happen in our society. Certainly, we could not accept if "rape" is involved.
Saw loh me made Malaysia as well-known as Twin Tower in the world and these were 2 mega projects happened during our ex-PM time. We take a hard time to forget saw loh mee and now life back to normal.
Unfortunately, heard that soh loh mee returns! No matter true or not, i think we should put a stop and no more nightmare for Malaysian again. The police should investigate fast, fair and charge whoever is illegal.
We should spend more time to catch the murderer instead and those who stole the little wealth of the PEOPLE and COUNTRY.
The sad part is now even "physical assassination" come into picture of Malaysia politics, this is definitely not our politics culture and we should refuse it. The leader (also the people of malaysia) seeks sanctuary at other embassy instead of his own government. This is the second sad part.

2 of the 3 Presents thrown into Penang Sea

When Our Seberang Perai Utara MP and also the PM promised to all penangkia early 2006 during CNY that the government will give 3 BIG GIFTS to penangkia (2nd bridge, monorail & PORR) no matter what happen in Penang (Politics), he was elected and become the PM.

When our 2nd Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yaakob said in July 2007 that 50% of Penangites will use public transport by 2011 because of this 3 gifts, he was elected as Tasek Gelugor MP.

And now they are still the PM and 2nd Finance Minister.

However, they made all penangkia disappointed again this time by putting off the 2 major infrastructure projects, Peanng Monorail (1.5bil) and PORR (2 bil), in the mid-term review of 9th Malaysia Plan according to news tonight.

The government instead of slashing the budgets of the Plans, is seeking for additional 30 bil additional funds through Parlimen tomorrow. (so they should have enough funds for the good projects)

The 2 projects are in generally welcomed by penangites especially after the oil price hikes. These may assist and encourage the people to take public transport. In addition, establishment of efficient transport system is the most important action to be done now and we are one of the contributors for reducing the petrol subsidy.

If the government meant to punish the penang people for voting to the opposition, we think they will regret again in the next, next, next......elections.

Whatever is it, some people may now start thinking of someone from Seberani Perai Tengah, Penang.

Political Moral?

When we are still "one five one ten" of whether agreed with Anwar to take over the government by inviting the BN MPs to jump over. MCA criticised that it is immoral to do that and Gerakan said that this does not fulfill democratic spirit.
Last week Anwar replied in the City Stadium that who is more immoral if the MPs still support the cabinet if the cabinet or the government implement somethings not correct and not benefit to the people without express their stands.
This will happen again in tomorrow's Parlimen Assembly when Najib had instructed all MPs not to defeat the Sharir motion on price increases. Some MPs may feel that this motion is incorrect and wish to defeat. Is it immoral if they support just to retain their seats. The warning statement by Najib too does not fulfill democratic spirit. What should MCA and Gerakan could do? Of course, as usual, raise their hands and said;"Ya" and "Betul".
Are we also means that the BN MPs had to support all policies that implemented by the Cabinet for next five years. If that so, we may just elect monkeys, cow, elephant, goat, etc which only take fruits and grass in the next election. No high salaries, no entertainment allowance, etc which could be saved to subsidise the petrol.
When SAPPs raise the issues of no-confidence motion to our PM. PKR fully support, PAS said may be support, DAP said should see what happen next first. They may look not united but in the other hands, at least everyone had their own stands and considerations. They shall debate before any agreement. (Hope PR is not like BN)
It is still look better than the MCA who never think first and be the first one to jump out and shouted to our PM, "We fully support you". In the mean time, we still has no answer when our Damansara school suppose to reopen, are the government going to build more Chinese school? Are the critical criminals in Malaysia going to solve? etc......

Unfortunately, our BN still does not like some of the other countries that allow their MPs has a difference views and stands of government policies where they could debate freely and the PM has to convince all MPs to support the motions.

Unless you interpret the recent decision of no action against SAPP as BN is more "open minded" now.

Are your stand now at least "one eight one two"?

Another Political Tsunami?

Just came back chit-chatting with my university mate who married to a French and staying there for more than 3 years. Will share with you later her experience staying in French and Malaysia.
Back to Malaysia, SAPP from Sabah thrown a political bombshell today that will back a no-confidence motion against PM on next monday. Many questions come to us and i guess not many people know all the answers at this moment.
1) Could the motion be raised successfully on Monday? (This is new lesson for malaysian)
2) Are SAPP alone, or will be followed by many others?
3) Will it trigger a ripple effects to other parties?
4) What are the people response?
5) What are the next move for SAPP?
6) What are the UMNO reactions?
7) Will Anwar successful to get enough supports?
8) Is it morale for Anwar to take over government this way?
9) Could majority of the people accept and calm if this happen?
10) Are we Ready?

Penangkia Wishes

Penangkia also want to make some wishes during this big day.
Firstly, we want to apologise to some of you as you may not well prepare to form the government so fast. But we can not wait until next election. So 'pai seh' you all please learn faster and implement something good for us. As long as you have the good heart and right motive, then every thing shall go smooth, i will ask 'Tee Kong' to 'poh pee' you all.
Secondly, you all must understand that do not enjoy the honeymoon period for too long. As you know about our Big Boss case, he is in trouble now due to he took too long honeymoon holidays last four years. Thus, we wish you all will not follow him.
Thirdly, i am sure that you all have many new friends recently. Please remember what our parents taught us when we are small that we have to be careful when making new friends especially when you are in power. These bad friends will teach you all 'bad bad' things like corruptionlah, abuse powerlah, cronismlah, nepotismlah, etc, etc, etc.
Fourthly, you must understand that most of the penangkia like us are actually kopitiam politician only. They may be chairman or president or committee member of many local associations. They may have many ideas and claimed that they have many supporters to ask you listen to them. However, they may not correct all the time as sometimes, they may not able to access and understand all facts macroscopically. You must have own principle as long as you are doing good. Of course, you must not ignore all other people opinions all the times. Their experiences also may help you. It looks complex. isn't it? yup, this is Penang.
Lastly, you must also understand that Penang is a commercial city and most of the people are also the businessman. Businessman may be profit orientated but they are important in contribution to the state economic grows and also provide a lot of job opportunities. Thus, you all should support them as long as they follow rules and regulations.
The wishes may be a bit long and the candles are going to burn up.
Happy 100th day again and Let's start work!

Happy 100th day in Power

Queue Again?

I think we should have a better way of handling this.

When we are so proud of our modernisation, industrialisation, multimedia super corridors, highest tower, biggest flags, etc, etc, etc. I think we should have a better way of handling this.

This made us look like queueing to buy bread in Moscow during the Communist time. The policy made so much trouble to the people and also the post office.

1) The Post Office suppose to handle mailing now handle cash rebate.

2) It is risky for the post office to keep so much cash all the time

3) More than 10,000,000 people are required to go post office to claim their rebate. It is really wasting of production time.

4) People need to queue up and many of them could not get the queue nos, or form finish, or cash finish, or..........

I still think that we should have a better way of handing this.

Ceramah in City Stadium

On 15 June 2008, Penang mark another memorable day by having the Ceramah in the City Stadium. More than 10,000 people of Penang instead of football players filled the whole 'padang'. No buses fetching the supporters, no allowance for the supporters, no water and food were served. Mostly are the people voluntary came themselves to witness the 100 days birthday gathering of the new government.
The significance of this gathering appeared to us is that the gathering attended by all races, the Malays, Chinese, Indian, etc. We came and sit together to talk about the national issues such as oil price hikes, etc. No racial issues, "Jaga Melayu", "Jaga Cina", "Jaga India", but only "Jaga Orang Miskin".
This unity and understanding of each others may be new and fresh, but at least the people start to plant the seed of the REAL UNITY among Malaysian. We strongly believe this should be promoted, encouraged and cultivated among Malaysian.
We hope that all parties should commit their political morality and be responsible to cultivate this unity that they have talked for years and protect from any afford to ruin this.

Najib "Tunggu Durian jatuh"

Datuk Seri Najib made up his mind and decide to "tunggu durian jatuh". Good luck to him, if the "jatuh" is durian and he hold it, he may got a little bit of pain but he got durian. If the "jatuh" is keris and he hold it, he will got pain and injured. Pak Lah declared that he will step down one day and will handover the power to his successor, Datuk Seri Najib. But the interesting question is, when is that one day?

The other interesting question is, could the Najib be the next PM successfully, are there any other candidates that may made the new government leader more attractive?

Who cares that cup of tea?

The Cabinet PROUDLY announced that a slash of 10% of their ENTERTAINMENT ALLOWANCES to share with people stress due to oil price hikes. The announcement also disclosed that the current allowances scheme are RM18,865 for PM, RM15,015 for DPM, RM12,320 for Minister and RM6,000 for deputy ministers, which is much higher than the middle range income. What about other allowances and salaries.
Also pity to our PM and all others can not "Phar Thor" openly in overseas except Asian. But who knows, there are so many conventions, conferences and seminars throughout the year.
In fact, the PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA should PROUDLY announce that they are slashing their SALARY by more than 10% to help the government due to their "never-prepared administration" and mis-management of the country in recent years.
Some ministers also SACRIFICE their tea time and souvenirs to show the sharing with the people. In fact, who cares about the cup of tea, we Malaysians are normally so generous and friendly, doesn't mind to 'belanja' coffee and even nasi lemak when we meet friends in the coffee shop. We also do not mind to 'belanja' the ministers even though they don't know us.
The fact is that the government should do their jobs properly, keep the money when the country is rich and assist the people when the crisis attacking. Instead, our country spend more money than the people do when the country is rich and want to make money from his own people when crisis attacking.
Soft and politely, we just want to tell our honour ministers one more time, we really don't mine that cup of tea. We could even give you more that what you have now.

Who Speaks for the Policy?

We are getting more and more confuse recently when government announce certain policies. It seems a lot of ministers and goverment servant could represent and speak different version of a same policy.

When the government ask to make use of government facilities instead of grand hotel to held seminars, training, etc. The Malacca government have a different thinking saying that the hotel may close down as the government contribute 70% of the usage of hotel function rooms. Another big contribution of our money to the private sector.

When the government announced the procedures to get the rebate from the Pos office in today's paper with only our smart IC. Pos Malaysia saying that one could not get the rebate if he did not clear his samans. Now, what is what now? In fact, we are not so agreed with the rebate procedures as this will waste a lot of quality production time from both the government and the people. What to do, we are just a 'small' people that can't even go demonstrate this afternoon in KL. By the way, be prepared to go a few trips to Pos office to get the rebate. The net rebate shall then like below formula:

RM625 - (2~3 trips x petrol consumption to Pos office) - car park fee - saman (if unfortunate) - production time = net rebate.

Good Luck.

Goodbye 192

I departed to Ho Chih Minh City the day we say goodbye to 192 on 5 June 2008, another memorable day to mark our last petrol price RM1.92/liter before it hiked to RM2.70/liter, a 41% increase. Today, i went to fill petrol and it hit RM150 before the tank is full. I used to do abut RM105 for full tank petrol. What to say, this is the first direct impact to us, the majority "small people" in the country. Our little wealth become 50% less in the petrol station.

To feel it more precisely, from now on, we are burning at 28sen per km of driving 2000cc car or 28sen per minute if you are driving at 60km/hr. Certainly, everyone know this is not the only item to hike up, many many more to come.

My friend asked me what should we do next to face this challenge? Well, may be we and especially the goverment should wake up now from our "Malaysia Boleh" dream that we used to have for the last 25 years. Our government is like our "look like rich and sound like rich" father. He has subsidise us with cash and encorage us dare to upgrade our living standard materialistically like western countries in all aspects except our competitiveness and quality. And today, he inform us that he is no longer support us and "you think you" in future. We are encoraged to buy bigger and bigger car due to low petrol price, to buy larger and larger house, to go "cuti-cuti dalam dan luar negeri" very frequently so that family harmony, to buy branded things so that we look high class, to spend a lot for our life style, family, chidren, etc, etc, etc.....but unfortunately, our income is 2x compared with 5~10x the material price hikes 25 years ago. The funny part is our government also think like us, taking for granted that the grandfather money would not finish and never prepare if the worse situation happen. In fact, they spent more drastically than us into non-productivity mega projects that didn't benefit the people. Now, the goverment said "tukar cara hidup". Yup, what to do, now it is too late to complain about your "father" why never teach you fishing. The efficient transport system could not built in one day, even though they promise to build 3 years ago when they raised the petrol price from 162 to 192., now also lazy to ask where the money gone. so, my suggestion at this point of time, keep living back to basic.

Let's Celebrate Our Blue Sky

We penangites love PENANG. This love does not need to show people by putting Penang Flag all over the cars, hanging the flags all over the houses, mat rempit the motorcycle with flags but damaging people cars during the Merdeka Day or making biggest flag in the world.
We penangites "kerja kuat dan bertungku-lumus" all over the corners in Penang and around malaysia. Many of them also works in overseas bringing back foreign funds into this small island. But they never forget they are penangites and always thinking of coming back to this beautiful island.
We wish to update those penangites outside penang the new landmark, The Promenade and 2 sculptures near Sg Pinang. The sculptures, "Let's Celebrate Our Blue Sky", consisting of 4 posts, are the tallest sculptures in the world. The other sculpture, "Rhythm of the Life", created by local artist. Please visit them when you are back.
We had a joke when we look at our new CM signature, someone said maybe we should ask fortune teller to "calculate" how long this CM could stay.
However, We hope our CM will only step down under following circumstances:,
a) He feel that he had done all his best for the people of penang and is time to leave the post
b) He establish a power transfer system (that say 2~3 term) to his successor even though he and the party are still in power
We hope this to happen as this only can happen if we have a good CM to lead the island connecting back the development track which we were left behind for so long.
We have no time to waste anymore. "Poh Pi" (Pray) this CM is a good one lah!

Memorable 308

308 is a memorable day for penang people and also all malaysian.
It may be too late to talk about how important and how exciting this date to penangites. I delay my launching of my blog till today as i am waiting for another memorable day for me. Today is my birthday.
I was born 20 days after another memorable day for all malaysian, 513 in 1969. Penangites bravely made the "CHANGE" in that election and unfortunately caused the tragedy that made malaysian a nightmares for 39 years.
I did not need to wait any longer as i predicted earlier . We did not disappoint our penangites in the last generation, we made the "CHANGE" again this time.
I was one of the RED DOT in front of stage among the 60,000 crowd. Before this, I attended all ceramah around penang held by opposition parties including Padang Tembak, Jalan Telekom, Batu Maung, Teluk Kumbar, etc. To be fair to BN, I also attended the biggest BN Variety Show cum Ceramah at Padang Tembak. Sad to say that, the leaders talked like opposition used to talk in the old days. Critics, critics, critics, personal attack, personal attack..............
You may wonder why all these penangites who normally "boh chap wa eh shu" (not my business) did not ran away under heavy rain. Most of us have no political background & no political interest, simply felt that we need a change this time.
There are so many factors that we need change which I do not need to elaborate here again.
I am just here to mark this date as Memorable Day and lastly, happy birthday to me.
